API to check if a user has unsubscribed

I have a web software. I send newsletters regarding software updates by MailWizz and Amazon SES.

In my software, I would like to check in real-time if a given user has unsubscribed from our newsletters. How should I check that? Should I make any API in the backend of MailWizz so that my software can call it?

You can search your email list by a given email address, which if will find the subscriber, will also return the status, which can be either confirmed or unsubscribed in your case. See https://api-docs.mailwizz.com/#search-by-email
