Hey community,

im a new mailwizz user coming from services like ongage and other
now the setup of mailwizz as a semi noob i must say is rather easy , i managed to get the system running as it should with 2 sending domains

however i found out that tracking is a whole different story o_O

is there anyone that is willing to let me know how to set up a tracking domain ?
what are the requirements and what are the best practices to do so ?

i did a couple of sends and am landing in inbox of gmail , yahoo and even icloud or every test campaigb i did
so my sending domains are ok (still on warm up obv but looking good so far)

Tracking domains, just like sending domains, are optional.
In order for tracking domains to work, your server must be able to direct any hostname to your MailWizz app, so basically your MailWizz app is either the default application on your IP address or you add domain aliases in your main domain, for each of your tracking domains.

Thanks for your quick reply

So basically mailwizz is the default app on my domain I even removed the /mail
So my backend is domain.xxx/backend/…

If I understand correctly all it needs is a subdomain or domain pointed to the ip of my server ?

Instead of an ip could I use a cname record instead of an a-record to do so ?

My point is, when you access your server IP address, do you see MailWizz?
If you do, then using only cname will work.
If not, then, beside your cnames, you also need to add a domain alias in your main domain configuration.

Thanks @twisted1919

so basically i set up a new alias on the domain and use this as a tracking domain now
is there something i should do to test before sending ?
or just do a small send and hope for the best ? :D

so just as an update what i did was ad an alias to the Cpanel (even though i have the direct IP)
and set up a xxxxx.net which i use as the tracking domain !
WORKS PERFECTLY !!!

@twisted1919

Thank you so much ma dude you're da bomb ;)

Can you help me figure out getting the tracking domain to work...

Both my domains are on cloudflare.

I want to setup tracking.myproduct.com for my installation mailwizzer.com

Shared hosting, so the ip of mailwizzer.com does not load the site exactly.

What do I need to set on both of these cloudflare DNS setups?
