Is there a way to tag email with some sort of tags?

example:

purchased
companya
companyb
hot
warm

You can use hidden custom fields with default values of 9 and set their value to 1 when a subscriber does some action. Then you can segment on these fields.

That sounds like a lot of work. Who puts tags into different fields?

If you treat a field like a tag, then its just normal behavior. We don't have a tag functionality so this would be the next best thing, unfortunately.
