Need guidance on rdns and ptr (it was blank on terminal) set up??

That most likely can be set from your hosting account/vps provider.

I do have a vps server. But I have no clue what values i need to add to update rdns and prt record

If in doubt, use the hostame of the server, i.e: mta01.domain.com or web01.domain.com etc.

Do i need to add this records somewhere in dns as well?

Yes, of course, add it as a A record as well.
