Is the Google UTM tags pattern stored during template changes?

As far as I can tell, the UTM tags are applied to links on the template once I click the "Parse links and set pattern" and then save the template. If I subsequently change the template or add new links, I would have to reapply the UTM tags pattern and parse links again. There also seems to be no way to remove UTM tags once set.

Wouldn't it make more sense to setup the Google UTM tags as part of the Campaign Setup and then apply the UTM tags once the template is saved (or when the campaign is sent?)

The idea is that you apply the tags only when you need them, that's the reason they are not stored and applied to each template automatically.

I think the UTM settings should be on the same screen as the Campaign Options (where we specify URL and Open tracking):
