How to set delivery server for list?

How do I set specific delivery servers for specific lists? I noticed the incorrect delivery server is used when sending the email subscribe confirmation email. How can I change that?

You can't setup delivery servers for lists. When confirmations emails are sent, those are sent using either customer wide delivery servers(if any) or customer group delivery servers (if any) or the system delivery servers.

Where would I add custom code to make it pick a specific delivery server? I have delivery servers partitioned by account type.
