"Gateway timeout" after importing 150K emails...

I received the error "Gateway Time-out" after import 150.000 contacts directly from a mysql database...

Why?

I'm not sure can you adjust the import settings, lower them, form backend > settings > import/export.

As @sendizo says, lower down the number of subscribers imported at once.
