Birthday emails - auto responder

How can automatically send a birthday e-mail?

The only way to achieve this is to have a birthday field in your list custom fields, with the value in the format of YYYY-MM-DD (i.e:2015-01-24) then create a segment with it (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/ejkm67cpqt4xyyv/Screenshot 2015-07-29 18.06.10.png?dl=0 where ASD is the birthdate field in that list) and then simply have a recurring campaign for this segment, each day.

@twisted1919 I know I'm bumping an old topic here sorry, but I am trying to set this up and I want to confirm if this still works?
When I click the "Show matching subscribers" button on the segment it does not match anyone. I've added a subscriber who's birthday anniversary is today (28th July) and I've added a condition to the segment for my birthday field with a value of [BIRTHDAY]. But it doesn't seem to work? See attachments. Am running version 2.1.13
