Anyone interested in an extension for "Subscribe/Unsubscribe" via email using email piping?

Also, just found out, it actually does not respect the subscription approval list setting, just breezes through to send the confirmation email (when list set to approval and DOI), while it also does not list an incoming request as 'unapproval' but 'unconfirmed', this seems like a bug?

This means you can blacklist certain domains so users can't subscribe.

Nope, this is the correct behavior. When you subscribe like this, is way more personal than when subscribing from a subscribe form because you actually send an email, a request to be added in a list.
If you need to welcome the user in this case, add him to a AR

The general list setting 'approval' should have top priority, as any other list extension should also not change the general list settings, and if it can change them, then this should be optional. Otherwise current settings and usage are changed upon installing the extension, and perhaps a whole business process changes.
Or look at mailman, majordomo, yahoogroups, googlegroups, etc, they have it right since a long time.
Perhaps the simplest would be to give the option in the extension to override the general list setting?
