I get a large number of opens that don't show any subsequent activity on the destination website -- we're recording/tracking with heatmaps and these opens show up on the correct page, are there for a second or two, and leave without so much as a mouse jiggle.
Nearly all of these come through IPs associated with Amazon data centers, and that has me wondering: Are there large mail operations (the kind that would sell inbox services to client companies and host their operation in AWS) that are pre-scanning all links in an HTML email? Perhaps as some sort of malware scan?
