I recently did a very long overdue update on Mailwizz, from a version from 2016 to version 2.1.19.
In doing so, I lost the ability to send via Mandrill.
Can I take the old Mandrill code from my previous version and install it into the current version and have it work?
Reason for Mandrill: The site already has a Mailchimp/Mandrill account for other reasons that are required. There is excess capacity on the account, so I was sending a small part of the daily newsletter via Mandrill (yes, really mailchimp, but still the Mandrill API) and it was working very well. It provides a way to monitor the health of the list, comparing it to the SMTP servers we use for the bulk of it.
The list itself is pretty clean, we send the same list of 60K everyday, 6 days a week, but it can be very interesting on what you find when you send a small portion via a different system. It just helps keep the list as clean as possible.
Mandrill rated our sending reputation as 'EXCELLENT', so we didn't have any problems with them.
Overall, sending via Mandrill is expensive so probably not a good solution, but we pay for it due to our CRM system using it and MailChimp / Mandrill approved us using it in this manner.
