exclude a list from sending?

Is it possible, to exclude a list from being sent?

for example if i have members in global X list i'm sending, but they are already members, and i keep members in Y list - can i exclude them to get email when i send email to list X (members of Y are also in X).

any way to achieve that?

@quepao - use segments, you can send emails to a segment based on the custom fields values.
