I have auto update turned on and an active licence however its not updating can you tell me what I need to do?

Auto-updates needs some functions enabled which are generally disabled in shared hosting environment, for example, it needs exec function enabled. You can go to backend > misc > php info and check the "disable_functions" line and see if you spot any function listed there.
